We all love yummy chocolate gooey treats especially during the winter months. But as a not so keen baker I tend to shy away from baking and often just buy some treats.
Over the weekend I spent time trolling my Facebook feed and found a recipe and I amo most defiantely going to make …… at some point . The reasons I love this recipe and have saved it is:
a) it takes 5 minutes only
b) I have all these ingredients at home .
c) I can make individual portions.
d) It can be made in the microwave.
However be WARNED ! This is the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night
4 tbsp. flour
4 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
3 tbsp. milk
3 tbsp. oil
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
Serve on its own with a dollop of fresh cream , custard or icecream!
Do let me know if you try this out 🙂
In April, a few days before my birthday I got an email from my Union about applications for a week long Writers course. This instantly caught my attention and I was determined to apply for this.
My amazing friends at work all encouraged me to complete this application and send it off on time. A week before the deadline on the 20th May I worked on the application, had friends read it and provide feedback. I mailed my application a week earlier as I was so excited about this and then counted down the days till the 3rd of June when I would find out if I was successful.
All day on the 3rd I kept checking my email for a response.Later that evening when I had given up I got the email saying I was successful . Boy was I over the moon. Such a great experience to improve my writing skills in a week long retreat with intensive writing workshops.
This Saturday was the pre workshop meet which will feature in another post 🙂
This bunny is so excited and looking forward to my week away and the joys of improving my writing skills…..
During the month of February I kept seeing some fellow bloggers/ tweeters talking about the bandwagonbox. Winter is my favourite season. I love this season as it brings images of fireplaces, hot chocolate and snow.
I dont like extreme heat so hence Winter is for me.Since experiencing a proper change of seasons and Winter I fell more in love with this season. I love the fact that you can actually dress up, full make up, hair done and not worry about the heat damaging your hardwork.
Winter clothing is so playful and fab colours all the deep rich tones. Boots, scarves, hats and coats ooh such choices.
Winter brings yummy food treats in every home from cakes, pies, stews, spicy crab curry, samoosas and lots of warm drinks. Generally one tends to put on a little more weight during these months. We tend to snack more and look for comfort food.
My favourite winter moments where in London waking up to snowflakes falling and the sky so light. Walking to work as there were no buses running and then seeing the paw prints of foxes and birds in the snow totally breathtaking. I recall fondly standing at the window with a dear friend Travis watching snowflakes fall, just silence between us while sipping piping hot cups of tea to warm us. Such a blissful moment taking in the beauty around us. Later on that day, I had my first snow fight with my friends it was awesome, we instantly became kids running around throwing snowballs at each other and making snow angels.
For me winter also has a romantic notion of cuddling by the fireplace, in a log cabin sipping Mulled wine. Winter is associated in my mind with Christmas.
I love Winter no doubt about that……. Mother Nature, I waited with bated breath to welcome Winter with open arms and recall all my wonderful memories…..
