Friday morning while getting ready for work, I got the most interesting BBM message from my friend. My friend happens to be the Head of English at the college that I work in. Her request to me was if it would be possible for me to do a little presentation to the staff in her department on Blogging.

I was pretty gobsmacked and delighted of the chance to share some insight into the world of blogging to others. I grabbed my Tablet made some notes and went off to work pretty excited. These staff members didnt know anything about blogging at all so heres what i shared with them :

# Blogging is an online diary which can be accessed anywhere in the world.

# Some blog sites are free to blog on like WordPress and Blogspot.

# Anyone can blog and you can blog about anything.

# On your blog you can upload pics, links to music, videos.

# Blogs have a spellcheck feature.

# Its a form of Social Media which is very popular and linked to Twitter and Facebook.

I then shared my blog with them and some of my favourite blogs :

I could see many of them looking confused but interested writing down notes and telling me they would defo read my blog.
I was so happy I could share my love of blogging with them. This got me thinking maybe I should study something in the field of media.
Ciao for now

my first time …..

Standard

My first time I came to stumble upon an iPhone I had such mixed feelings. I clearly recall been very adament that I didnt want a touch screen phone . My upgrade was overdue on my cellphone contract and I had to make a choice of a new phone when given the option of the iPhone 2G I was not very impressed as very simple functions were not available , I was told by the attentive assistants to take the phone as new software was been developed all the time .

So after a 3 month of ohhh and ahhhing situation I gave in and got it . My first night with my new gadget was nerve wrecking it wasnt like any of the other phones I had before. It had a million functions and no booklet for help but rather a CD . The touch screen was another nightmare on its own. So I took on this challenge and soon I was in love with my iPhone . I became at work the person that everyone spoke to about cell phones , I was even offered a job by one of the major UK MOBILE phone operators as they were impressed with my knowledge of phones (not bad for a girl).

My new iPhone became almost like another limb , one I could not live without. It amazed me every new app , every download , the instant accesss to my email. I recall one Saturday while shopping in Canary Wharf I recieved an email a very detailed one from a potential member of staff we were trying to recruit. In the middle of the mall I read this email where the guy had accpeted the job and was able to pass on the info to my senior manager who was very impressed that on a Saturday afternoon I was still working .

I could not sing my praises of this new phone anymore that is until the new 3G came out and took iPhones to a whole a whole new level . And then tragedy struck , my touch screen started going all fuzzy on me . The horror of not having my iPhone got me on the phone immediately with my service provider who provided me with details of my nearest Apple Store and how to book an appointement. My poor phone like a child needed to be taken in to see the iPhone doctor but an appointment needed to be made first
online . I did this immediately and was given an appointment for later that day. I hurried took my precious phone in its box , swapped simcard into another phone and went off to the Apple Store.

Using the other phone felt rather strange in my hand and I was already missing my phone and all its wonder. Once I got into the store I was greeted by an Apple “Nurse” who took down my details , booked me in and directed me to the waiting area. Looking around me there were lots of other worried faces waiting clutching their Apple products awaiting their name to be called on the large screens in store. Ten minutes of waiting I was called . the assistant was well spoken and very helpful . I explained my problem to him and he listened and nodded like a good doctor to my symptoms .

After I finished he then diagnosed my condition and gave me my “REMEDY”. Without any major hassle of sending my phone off for repairs that would take weeks , he immediately gave me a new Handset. I was totally gobsmacked and so happy to have my beloved phone back alive and working properly.

It totally amazed me how effiecent , friendly and helpful the staff at the Apple Store were. Wish all companies would send their staff be observe and be trained by Apple Staff.Yet again I sang the praises of Apple and work thus convincing more people to consider iPhones. However after using iPhones for 4 YEARS on my return to SA I gave my phone to my brother as I didnt have a job and could not afford to have an iPhone on pay as you go package.I so missed my iPhone and am know a BB user . In the UK all iPhone cotracts provided unlimited data which is great especially to be able to access all the great features of this phone . iPhone how I miss thee…..one sweet day we shall be united again……and yes you gave me an amazing first time……..Ciao for now tech loving people…….

What every girl loves?

oOnline shopping has become the latest addiction of us lovely ladies. Earlier this week at work a friend who is been introduced to the digital age made her first online purchase. She was totally over the moon with how easy it was to do this transaction. And the other interesting thing was she purchased and Ebook , i was so totally amazed at how my friend is taking to the digital age like a duck to water. So it seems our lil digital club at work is slowly growing with more having Blackberrys , Samsung Tablets and Netbooks. It makes me feel like a proud mum moment seeing how fast the girls at work are keeping up with technology.

In the mean time , i have been shopping in the Apps store on my Samsung Tablet, I have been amazed at the amount of free apps and like a kid in a candy shop i been downloading them. From gorgeous wallpapers of my beleoved London to recipe books , to learn Arabic , to a library of books for reading (yes MC will be giving it a try ). The options seem endless and makes one just want continually download. The best part of this is that all these apps are free 🙂 Bargain and free are words which make me very happy .

But then I have 2 problems a) I dont have a credit card to shop online b) I dont have an unlimited Data Plan. So after my online booking drama ( ticket has been booked sponsored by bro and yes and the price was still the same this morning) i have been considering getting a credit card for these purchases. As for problem B a work friend also suggested going to Mugg and Bean for their free WiFi and a lovely coffee then spend a few hours in download heaven.Just the thought of downloading unlimited excites me like a fat kid who loves cake

In the UK virtually all shopping can be done online from food to clothing to jewellery to home improvement to leisure. Hopefully this trend catches on here in SA but before it can we need affordable and reliable internet accessfor this to work effectively.

So come on internet providers think about making access more affordable and reliable so then us girls can do what we do best ……….Shop at home without having to brave the madness of the mall….Have a lovely day digi addicts
