British Addiction

I have a crazy infactuation with all things British……But dont blame me as I lived there for over ten years..

As a kid I grew up watching Mr Bean and Faulty Towers and fell in love with the British sense of humour. So when I decided to spread my wings and fly London was no surprise. In my head I had visions of snow , fog , Royal Family and Tower Bridge.During my exploration I fell more in love with Britain….

The famous pubs, museums,double decker buses and the English accent all became a normal much loved feature of my everyday life as I explored the streets of London.

Each part of Britain is so unique and delightful with its own regional dialects , customs and inhabitants. But the thing that struck me was how diverse it was and was a definate melting pot of cultures. Each of these cultural groups brought with them their traditions and food.

One of my greatest life lessons was realizing I had such a great rich culture coming from South Africa but was totally smitten by the Brits.

Now days I still watch BBC programmes , buy all things British I see in local shops, hang on to London memories and get super excited when friends there send me a care package……

My not so secret addiction…….

Hello everybody. ………. My name is Verushka. …… And I love entering and winning competions.For those who follow me on Twitter know that I have been having a lucky streak.

Earlier on today, my cousin asked if I had visited http://www.winstuff.co.za.  I hadnt and boy was I surprised at how many competitions were just on this one site. Come on now,  we all love winning the thrill of winning immediately is such a huge boost to one.

So i decided to explore this website which was very simple to navigate. All the competitions were put into categories so I could choose what type of products I wanted to win. The site is made up of all the free online competitions in South Africa but with all on one page. Electronics and Fashion and Beauty immediately sparked my interest.

Wow mindblown at the large variety of Electronic products I could enter to win from phones to laptops to ipads.  No guesses what I will be doing tonight:-)

My other favourite category had even more amazing prizes up for grabs yipee,  excited bunny over here.

I love entering competitions and winning them is even a bigger thrill to me.  I never knew that there was so much out there until I started entering competitions on social networks.

Vanilla

I am so totally in love with Vanilla:-) From Vanilla tea to vanilla perfume to vanilla cupcakes this flavour or scent is my addiction.To me vanilla reminds me of home baking and is very comforting,  guess thats the foodie within me speaking.

Vanilla is the second most expensive spice in the world,  after Saffron as they are labour intensive to grow.It is a flavouring derived from an Orchid.  Vanilla comes from the Spanish word Vaina meaning sheath or pod. Its not a very attractive looking spice but has a divine aroma, and those amazing blacks specks of vanila in a dessert are divine.

Until the mid 19th century,  Mexico was the chief producer of Vanilla.In 1918,  the French took this spice to Reunion Islands and Mauritius from here it was sent to Madagascar. Madagascar now accounts for a vast amount of the Vanilla grown globally.

Vanilla ice cream is the largest use of vanilla in the industry and is a very popular ice cream flavour.

I find the sweet scent of Vanilla comforting and intoxicating. …………

5 Favourite movies

Another one of my addictions is watching movies and series. I have 2 HDs full but my problem however is getting time to watch.They say good moves are generally ones who leave you feeling good, ones you watch over and over and ones you can quote lines from.

There are so many fantastic movies and series out there and in so many different genres. Its kinda difficult for me to pick 5 only but i will attempt too.

After writing this list, I have noticed I love British movies 🙂

Series watching is so addictive and time consuming. My friends, cousins and I swop and copy all the time from each other. I love having these as there are no adverts and you can watch more than one episode.Here gos my list 🙂

My digital addiction

Last week an electricity cut all day made me very uneasy as I was not able to Blog , Tweet, BBM or Whatsapp unless it as very important in attempt to save my battery life.

However my plan of action didnt last too long as i felt the need to use my phone for the numerous tasks i use it for normally.This lead to the phone dying by midday , the electricity was only due to come back on at 4PM. I then decided to read for abit then decided to spend quality time chatting with my mum and gran for about 2 hours .

During this bonding session I realised ahhh my laptop was still fully charged from the night before. So with a smile as big as a Cheshire cat i went off to get my laptop to charge my phone and my external hard drive. I then decided to to clean up my hard drive , put on a playlist and charge my phone at the same time. Wow such great multitasking skills us women have.

And then there was light Eureka , i could put my phone to charge properly and both my netbook and laptop.However it later dawned on me that evening how I am totally addicted to this digital era and how the art of conversation has become a dying art.

Its so totally evident as people can no longer hold a decent conversation. Even the learners of today write in text language and no longer use proper English… Yes I am addicted to the digital age but i can hold a conversation and I use proper English when I write.Presses the ESC KEY to end
