Don’t date a girl like me who loves to travel…

Standard

As a blogger I spend time reading many interesting, funny and heartbreaking blogs from bloggers around the globe. My readers know I love travelling and have been bitten by the travel bug. I came across this awesome post that was so me yet funny and I knew I had to share it.This post has resonated with so many women around the world and has been translated into over 20 different languages including Spanish (EU & SA), Portuguese (EU & Brazil), German, Italian, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, French-Canadian, Dutch, Greek, Danish, Swedish, Croatian, Estonian, Russian, Czech, European Spanish and Thai.

Check out this blog http://www.lovethesearch.com for great posts .

So here goes :

travels

She’s the one with the messy unkempt hair colored by the sun. Her skin is now far from fair like it once was. Not even sun kissed. It’s burnt with multiple tan lines, wounds and bites here and there. But for every flaw on her skin, she has an interesting story to tell.

Having been sunburnt in Jamaica has left me far from fair lol and yes I do have burns from cooking.

Don’t date a girl who travels. She is hard to please. The usual dinner-movie date at the mall will suck the life out of her. Her soul craves for new experiences and adventures. She will be unimpressed with your new car and your expensive watch. She would rather climb a rock or jump out of an airplane than hear you brag about it.

Yes I have a phobia about been stuck in a boring relationship not fussed what car you drive long as we can go on Roadtrips.

Don’t date a girl who travels because she will bug you to book a flight every time there’s an airline seat sale. She wont party at Republiq. And she will never pay over $100 for Avicii because she knows that one weekend of clubbing is equivalent to one week somewhere far more exciting.

Yes always reading travel section for deals dreaming and planning, yes I am not a keen clubber.

Chances are, she can’t hold a steady job. Or she’s probably daydreaming about quitting. She doesn’t want to keep working her ass off for someone else’s dream. She has her own and is working towards it. She is a freelancer. She makes money from designing, writing, photography or something that requires creativity and imagination. Don’t waste her time complaining about your boring job.

Yes yes I am working on been my own boss soon 🙂 and yes I am a freelance blogger.

Don’t date a girl who travels. She might have wasted her college degree and switched careers entirely. She is now a dive instructor or a yoga teacher. She’s not sure when the next paycheck is coming. But she doesn’t work like a robot all day, she goes out and takes what life has to offer and challenges you to do the same.

I started teaching Hospitality now Lecture Business Studies and now a blogger and Social Media fundi. No single day of mine is the same and often more than 3 jobs on a go.Love encouraging and inspiring others.

msc

Don’t date a girl who travels for she has chosen a life of uncertainty. She doesn’t have a plan or a permanent address. She goes with the flow and follows her heart. She dances to the beat of her own drum. She doesn’t wear a watch. Her days are ruled by the sun and the moon. When the waves are calling, life stops and she will be oblivious to everything else for a moment. But she has learned that the most important thing in life isn’t surfing.

I have a permanent email addy if that helps lol.I am the Captain of my Soul so I dance to my own beat however I feel undressed without a watch.

Don’t date a girl who travels as she tends to speak her mind. She will never try to impress your parents or friends. She knows respect, but isn’t afraid to hold a debate about global issues or social responsibility.

Hmm what you see is what you get , everyones parents love me #TrueStory , Modern girl with morals and values, who can hold a convo about anything and everything.

314738_10151965181825029_671603661_n

She will never need you. She knows how to pitch a tent and screw her own fins without your help. She cooks well and doesn’t need you to pay for her meals. She is too independent and wont care whether you travel with her or not. She will forget to check in with you when she arrives at her destination. She’s busy living in the present. She talks to strangers. She will meet many interesting, like-minded people from around the world who share her passion and dreams. She will be bored with you.

Indeed I am independant and can look after myself guess living abroad does that to one.I do strike up random convos with strangers and am always meeting interesting people.I don’t need you but want you to share my adventures.

So never date a girl who travels unless you can keep up with her. And if you unintentionally fall in love with one, don’t you dare keep her. Let her go.

Been told I am addictive lol so can’t help if you happen to fall in love me, keep me but be prepared to Live Life to the fullest.

To my SuperHero/Superman are you willing to take the plunge and take a chance of falling in love with a girl like me who travels…….

Kiehl’s has done it again…

Standard

kiehls-logo

Besides how amazing the Kiehl’s products are, I love this brand for their commitment to making a difference in our World.

Kiehls has announced their latest global partnership in aid of the “Keep A Child Alive” organisation. They have launched a limited edition of the much loved Midnight Recovery Concentrate which retails for R585 a bottle and 100 percent of the sale of this product will go towards this project.

AliciaKeys-Kiehls

The Keep A Child Alive organisation was co founded by Alicia Keys and Leigh Blake in 2003. The aim is to care for, support and bring dignified treatment to children and families in India and Africa affected by HIV/AIDS. Popular Songstress Alicia Keys has this to say about her involvement in this project:

“The thing that inspires me about it the most : we all deserve a chance at life and the chance to dream.I know this treatment really allows you to have life , and it allows little kids who would only be projected to live until the age of two without treatment to live a full, amazing, incredible life.”

Well Done Kiehl’s another amazing initative! Not like us Kiehls lovers needed much reason to buy the MRC product BUT, do support this worthy cause and give a child the chance to LIFE.

Durban Welcomes Zomato …

Standard

zomato-logo

Zomato? You thinking Tomato or an exotic Tomato variety … Actually, no.

Last year I kept seeing local South African bloggers tweeting about Zomato reviews and the chance to win iPads. So my curiosity got the better of me and off I went to my trusty old bf  “Google”  to find out more.

Zomato is an online restaurant discovery guide providing information on home delivery, dine-out, cafés and nightlife in cities of India, Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. In 2011, Zomato also launched applications for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices.

So once I found this information I was keen to see/read/review/taste more. But alas, at the time, Zomato was only in JHB and CT. Then last November I got a call from the gorgeous Thando (Jozifoodiefix.blogspot.com) who works for Zomato in JHB. We had a long chat about Zomato, how it works etc. Thando then sent me links to look at and we discussed a meet and a brunch with bloggers in Durban that I knew. Instantly I drew up a list of fellow bloggers that included @fayinthemaze, @NicolaLMeyer, @lizalaughalot, @AMG133 and @jantripepi.

Thando and I looked at possible dates as we both agreed the brunch needed to happen before December got into party mode. Invites were sent off and on the 1st of December we met at the gorgeous and vibey Market Eatery. It was an intimate gathering as Thando talked us through the site, its history and the setting up of Durban Zomato. We were asked to bring along our Smartphones, Tablets or Laptops so we could play around on the site.

It was rather quick and easy to register and navigate. I linked my Twitter handle to it so that everytime I wrote a review it would be shared on Twitter.

We then ordered from the yummilicious menu and trust me it was super hard to decide what to eat. I eventually settled on Lamb Chops and wasn’t disappointed at all.

Durban-20131201-00612

Thando presented us all with gorgeously wrapped pressies from Zomato which were lovely Foodie coffee mugs. To a Social Media/Techno fundi, Zomato is a perfect site to check out reviews on eateries and to be honest, I always Google new places and leave reviews all in one place and its growing in terms of Global sites. So yes I love Zomato! And I am currently ranked as the number 3 foodie in Durban.

I look forward to Zomato expanding in Durban and including all of the yumminess that is found here.

I am not a baker though I love cooking savoury dishes. This afternoon after having a rather lazy Sunday decided to make Pancakes for tea time. Two years ago while watching Jamie Oliver Christmas special Jamie shared his Pancake recipe which I committed to memory and love making .

I decided to share this easy recipe with you :

  • 1 Egg.
  • 1 Cup of milk.
  • 1 Cup self raising flour.
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla essence.
  • Sugar to taste.

Method.

  1. Whisk egg , milk and vanilla.
  2. Whisk in dry ingredients.
  3. Heat up a frying pan and put in a small amount of mixture using a ladle or measuring jug.
  4. Turn over once bubbles start appearing
  5. Serve warm with butter , syrup , cream or jam .

Tips :

  1. I use a mug to measure out ingriendents so that way its all the same.
  2. I did substitute buttermilk for milk amazing light and fluffy pancakes .
  3. Add a pinch of cinnamon for a different flavour.
  4. I tried grated apples mixed with sugar and cinnamon to the mixture before cooking once it was divine.

Bon Appetite.

The Chinese New Year of the Horse …

Standard

flat,550x550,075,f

From time to time I do enjoy reading my Horoscope. Being born on the 20th of April I am born on the cusp with characteristics of both Aries and Taurus. Best of Worlds I guess :).
So by total chance I was flipping through a newspaper when I came across an article by the Mystic Sister Melissa Mallaya. Her article was on the Chinese New Year and more specifically the Year of the Horse. The Chinese Zodiac is classified into 12 animals in a 12 year period according to the year you were born.So there I was scrolling down the list to see what animal I was! To my utter surprise it was the Year of the Horse. I then decided to read up more and found this out :

sticker,375x360.u1

“In Chinese astrology, Horse year is considered a fortunate year that brings luck and good things. Magical Horse has supernatural powers, is heroic, strong, and can even fly! A white celestial cloud Horse is sacred to the Chinese Goddess Kwan Yin. Her white Horse flies through the heavens, bringing peace and blessings. Horse is a hero in China because important battles were won due to the power and strength of the Horse.”.
“People born in the Year of the Horse are clever, kind, animated and energetic. Although they sometimes talk too much, they are cheerful, perceptive, talented and love to be in the centre of a crowd. They are popular among friends, active at work and have a deft sense of humour.
2014 is the year of the Wooden Horse. Wood Horses are strong and stable and have a better ability to make decisions. Excellent at interacting with others, they are successful personally and professionally.”

20 days into 2014 and defo know that this is my year to shine :).
What sign are you ?

Welcome 2014…

Standard

download A long overdue post I know but let’s just say 2014 has been so awesome … 19 days of new opportunities, great friends, fun days out and lots of hard work. Two years ago on New Years morning we lost my Dad so the New Year brings bittersweet memories and feelings to our family.I re-watched the movie New Years Eve the other day as one of the stories is a man who dies on New Years morning .I did feel sadness in my heart BUT there was hope and happiness of the opportunities and chances I have to make a difference in this world and leave my Legacy.Looking back at 2013 I had my fair share of good and bad moments but all experiences I believe are life lessons to me.” 2014 Welcome to my world 🙂 I hear that you are going to be way amazing and awesome. I believe you are going to turn many of my dreams into a reality and some even beyond my wildest dreams. I look forward to the adventures, opportunities, memories, friendships and the laughter”.

To all my readers a happy and blessed 2014 may all your dreams and goals become a reality.
