Dreaded C WORD……

Standard

Ever since my Dad died last January from Cancer, its a word that I dread and detest.

So when my mum returned from London after visiting her beloved youngest sister who turns 50 next week with the heartbreaking news that she has Cancer. I felt as if another part of me was dying. My aunt lost her daughter my 16year old cousin last year, so now having to deal with a blow like this is very devastating.

My aunt has ovarian cancer , she has already started her chemo and has started losing her hair. She has now taken what ever remains of her hair totally off:( I have decided to grow my hair and give it to her to be made into a wig as she refused one from the Hospital.

Every side you turn there are stories of Cancer and it doesnt have a particular race, age or sex.I hope and pray that they find a cure for this disease 😦

So dear readers keep my family in your prayers as emotionally we are heartbroken.

Reason or Season?

Image

Over the years life has taught me many lessons but one of the most valuable was about friendship. I have on my life journey met some really amazing friends but in reality and on social media networks.

The lesson I have learnt is that not all friendships are meant to last forever till I am old and grey. Some of these friendships believe or not have expirey dates and we should try and keep those that have expired.

People come into our lives for a reason or a season and once the lesson has been learnt they leave, but us as humans try and hold onto the person and ask questions and beg for that friendship.Over time I have learnt these lessons wisely and now if these friends decide it time to go I thank them for helping me on my journey with valuable lessons and say ciao.

But on the flipside some of the most amazing humans ever have enriched my life , held my hand and stayed through every storm and rainbow.

The lesson is learning to let go if its past its expirey date……

Routines…

Standard

I am a creature of habit , I love stability and routine . I dont take very well to change.

The last week I had to get back into my old work routine of starting work at midday and finishing work at 7pm.Most reading this would say lucky fish ! But trust me its awful leaving work especially in winter when its so cold and dark.

So on Monday I had to start a whole new routine with new timings its been hard the last week adjusting .But I have found a plan of action on how to deal with this new change and so far so good. They say it takes 2 weeks before something becomes a habit so week 1 down and 1 to go.

So wish me luck and hopefully my routine doesnt change again 🙂

67 MINUTES….

Image

imagesCABI07HE

All over social media there seems to be a buzz about what are you doing for your 67 minutes…. this got me thinking why should we only do this once a year ? why cant it be apart of our lives all the time ?

There are so many organisations out there that require our help be it in cash or kind .Lets use this year to remind us that we should be giving back on a regualar basis not just once a year on Madibas birthday.

So as a Nation lets do the right thing not only tomorow but always ……

Weddings

Standard

In June my amazing friend M married her beloved M is a beautiful ceremony that was so touching. I even caught the bouquet so guess that means I am next.

So this got me thinking about weddings, marriage , traditions and culture. In an Indian wedding its always a large event that occurs over a period of 2 weeks, lots of feasting, songs, dancing and colourfulclothing.Ithinks this takes away the signifance. Every wedding that occurs now is bigger and better than the last with wedding co ordinators and programme directors all these things cost a large amount of money and is over so quickly.

Some marriages are based on love while others are arranged . This process of arranged marriage is not often done these days but there is a history of this especially in the Indian culture. They say you can learn to love someone …. not sure about this but on the flipside of the coin your family find you a suitable partner .

A wedding is the joining of two people who have decided to walk down the same path together , it is also a joining of their families and friends. Every culture has their own traditions which is always interesting to see how different people celebrate weddings. As much as it is a joyous celebration it is also sad for the to be leaving her family and starting a new life.

My take on marriage ……. Marriage is when two souls unite and become one to share their life journeys together through rocky roads and rainbows. Every religion of the world holds marriage as a very important aspect of life, I do believe in marriage but I dont beleive in the vast amounts of money spent on this day as the true meaning of this celebration gets lost. Though my heart has been broken and is almost like a patchwork quilt I still believe in love and marriage and yes I do want to get married someday not an arranged marriage tho but with someone I love and someone who does complete me …..
